Frequently Asked Questions

An authorization code is also known as an EPP or a transfer key. It is only through this code that domain names can be transferred to different registrars. Each domain name is assigned its own transfer code.

Some domains registrars will display your authorization code within your account, but in some cases, you will need to send your current registrar’s support team to obtain the code.

Transferring your domain name over will usually take 5 days, but it can be shorter depending on the domain extension. For .COM, .NET and .ORG, the process will take 5 days but if you are transferring a .CA domain name, the process takes place immediately once verification is complete.

A locked domain name, also known as registrar lock, means that your domain name is locked and cannot be transferred or altered in anyway. If your domain name is locked, then you will have to manually unlock it.

Some registrars lock domains by default, while others offer it as a separate service. The best way to find out is by going to within your account and checking to see if there is an option to unlock your domain name.

*Terms & Conditions: Price is valid for 1st year of new registrations and domain transfers. All transfers include a 1-year extension on the existing domain term.
